Amazon’s KDP Select a Bonanza for Authors

The KDP Select Global fund for April 2015 is $3,000,000. Would you like to get a piece of that kettle of gold? Earn your share of the KDP Select Global Fund amount when readers choose and read more than 10% of your book from Kindle Unlimited, or borrow your book from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. Plus, earn 70% royalty for sales to customers in Japan, India, Brazil and Mexico.

We have found that Japan is the third on our list of viewers. It is still just 2%. The overwhelming number of viewers of our Amazon page come from the United States.

What are Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library?

Kindle Unlimited is a subscription program for readers that allows them to read as many books as they want. The Kindle Owners’ Lending Library is a collection of books that Amazon Prime members who own a Kindle can choose one book from each month with no due dates. When you enroll in KDP Select, your books are automatically included in both programs. Your books will still be available for anyone to buy in the Kindle Store, and you’ll continue to earn royalties from those sales like you do today. People Don’t Buy Ebooks; They Download

As in all things these days, people are downloading or streaming rather than collecting objects they can hold in their hands. Books are no different. Our fans tell us they do not buy books; they pay a subscription to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime and download books to their private library. They can have any 10 books at a time. When they want to read a new book, they just return a book to Amazon.

If People Pay Amazon for a Lending Program How Do I Get Paid?

They base the calculation of your share of the KDP Select Global Fund by how often Kindle Unlimited customers choose and read more than 10% of your book, and Kindle Owners’ Lending Library customers download your book. They compare these numbers to how often all participating KDP Select titles were chosen. For example, if the monthly global fund amount is $1,000,000, all participating KDP titles were read 300,000 times, and customers read your book 1,500 times, you will earn 0.5% (1,500/300,000 = 0.5%), or $5,000 for that month.

There is $3,000,000 in the global fund for April 2015. I could only find one figure on the number of books available on kindle. It was 3,000,000 in March of 2014. I’m sure there are more now. Let’s say there were 3,000,000 downloads and 500 of them were yours (500/3000000=.000166) or $500 for that month. Not bad for starters. And imagine if you keep adding books to this list. More on that plan in another blog.

to read book with its cover is more interesting and exited but to have it under your eyes by no effort just to read from nearby your computer is a great matter indeed.
